A scientific explanation is that Shiatsu relieves stiff and sore muscles, improves joint function, improves circulation and reduces stress by stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system.

From a traditional Eastern perspective, Shiatsu sets the body's self-curative powers to work by unblocking imbalances in the flow of energy, known as "Ki" (also known as "Chi" in Chinese culture.)

Doing so restores harmony between the person's mind, body, emotions and environment.

Shiatsu is a form of Japanese massage rooted in Chinese and Japanese healing methods dating back thousands of years. It is often referred to as 'acupuncture without needles'.

In other words, it is like receiving the benefits of massage amplified by the benefits of acupuncture at the same time.

The therapist applies finger and palm pressure to provide a gentle, deeply relaxing and therapeutic experience.

The client wears comfortable clothes as massage oils are not used.
